Kartell Goes Sottsass: A Tribute to Memphis

After its debut in Milan, the Kartell Goes Sottsass collection, with never-before-seen products by design icon Ettore Sottsass, was exhibited during the M&O trade fair in Paris (22-26 January). Imagined in 2004 for Kartell but never produced, the collection includes four vases, three tabouret stools and one lamp. Chairs, sofas and futons created by designers Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck and Patricia Urquiola for Kartell were given a new twist thanks to a collaboration with Memphis Group members like Nathalie du Pasquier and George Sowden to design new Memphis-inspired fabrics, in vivid colors, bold prints, geometric patterns. Alaso seen at imm Cologne, the special showcase will continue onto the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in February.

Frederik Roijé, Dish of Desire

"Avoir un appétit d'oiseau" va prendre une nouvelle résonance avec la série "Dish of Desire" signée Frederik Roijé. Le designer, basé à Amsterdam, a eu recours à des matières nobles (cèdre rouge, porcelaine et aluminium) pour réaliser sa collection de mangeoires de luxe : repas de choix et à la carte pour les moineaux du quartier. "Eating like a bird" takes a new meaning: Amsterdam-based designer Frederik Roijé has used the finest red cedar, porcelain and aluminum to make his "Dish of Desire" series, offering one to five-course meals to neighboring sparrows.
